Junior Cardinals

Open to all students 3rd-5th grade. 2nd graders depending on skill level. This is a great program for beginning and intermediate wrestlers.


  • Beginning and intermediate wrestling focusing on fun, fitness, wrestling. We encourage those that have never tried wrestling to try it.
  • Open to boys and girls in grades 3rd-5th, 2nd graders that demonstrate basic skills may move up into this program
  • Program runs from January 7th until March 6th
  • Practices held twice per week, Tuesdays 6pm-7:30pm & Saturdays 8:15am-9:45am
  • Registration prior to first practice on Saturday, January 7th or prior to subsequent practices
  • Practices held at Riverside Elementary School in South Balcony Wrestling Room
  • Kids in this program will have the option to compete in a couple tournaments on Saturdays. On those weeks we may practice on Thursday night also to prepare for tournament. Tournaments are optional. Information will be given out at practices
  • Some Saturday practices may be held at new high school and may include kids from surrounding communities.
  • Wrestlers are to wear clean shorts or sweat pants, clean T-shirt, and bring along dry tennis shoes or wrestling shoes. Some may wrestle in socks. No jewelry allowed
  • Wrestlers will be divided into groups based on age, weight, and experience
  • The end of the year will likely end with kids having the option of competing in the Wisconsin Wrestling Federation’s regional tournament hosted at Fond du Lac high school on Saturday, March 10, 2012. The top 2 in each weight class at this tournament qualify for the state tournament held on March 25th at the Alliant Center in Madison
